This nursery has such a playful charm to it, I had so much fun putting it together. The silly goose theme adds a lighthearted touch, but the overall feel is soft, serene, and thoughtfully vintage. I wanted it to feel like a cozy little storybook brought to life, with gentle colors, sweet details, and just enough whimsy to make you smile.

I kept the palette neutral and calming, leaning into warm whites, dusty sage green, and soft greige. It gives the room a timeless foundation while allowing the sweet goose details to really shine. The crib and dresser share that charming scalloped edge which ties everything together in a subtle, cohesive way. That little detail feels classic, a little playful, and just right for a baby’s space.

The mobile is one of my favorite elements. I mean, little geese in flight? It’s adorable and softens the space above the crib so beautifully. I also love the mix of art in this room. I paired a few vintage-inspired goose prints with a more whimsical illustration, and together they bring personality and storybook charm to the room without feeling too theme-y.

I went with natural textures throughout the space to keep things grounded. The ruffled ottoman, woven lamp, and linen curtains all add quiet layers of coziness. And that buffalo check rug brings just the right amount of pattern and softness underfoot. It keeps the room from feeling flat and adds that heirloom cottage vibe I always gravitate toward.

This one was such a joy to design. It’s calm and sweet, a little silly, and full of character. Perfect for a baby girl or boy, and designed to grow gracefully with your little one.

this is an interior design mood board showing a gender neutral sage green baby nursery design with goose theme and cottagecore aesthetic

Crib
This crib had me at scalloped edges. It brings so much charm to the space without feeling too frilly or overly themed. The clean white finish works with just about any color palette, and of course, it's made with safer, less-toxic materials and is Greenguard Gold certified.

Mattress
A non-toxic, certified organic breathable crib mattress is one of the most important foundations for any nursery. This one checks all the boxes for safety and comfort. I used this brand in my own babies’ rooms!

Mattress Protector
I always recommend a waterproof protector that’s free from vinyl and noisy plastic. This one is soft, quiet, and made with safer materials. I suggest ordering 2 so you have a spare in case of messes :)

Crib Sheets

These sheets are GOTS-certified organic cotton and come in a simple oatmeal color that plays so nicely with the rest of the room. They’re simple, organic and easy to mix and match.

Goose Quilt

The embroidered goose quilt adds a layer of softness and whimsy without being too busy. It’s perfect for tummy time or draped over the glider, and it's made from organic cotton, so it's safe for snuggles.

Geese Mobile
I couldn’t resist this geese mobile. It’s playful and lightweight, and I love the handmade feel it brings into the room. It also echoes the artwork in a sweet, subtle way.

Geese Sketch Art

These vintage-style prints are what really kicked off the design. The tone is soft and sketch-like — they feel like they belong in a storybook, and they bring a timeless, collected look to the room.

Ceiling Light

This flush mount light is clean and classic, with a vintage-inspired milk glass shade. It doesn’t compete with the other elements in the room but still adds that cozy, soft glow you’ll love in the evenings.

Dresser

This dresser is such a standout. The scalloped trim mirrors the crib and ties the space together, and I love the combination of classic white with warm wood knobs. Plus, it’s Greenguard Gold certified and spacious enough to double as a changing table.

Changing Pad
Contoured for safety and comfort, and works with almost any changing setup. I like this one because it’s wipeable , vinyl free and contains no harmful chemicals. Used it in my own baby’s nurseries!

Changing Pad Cover

This cotton cover adds a soft touch to the changing area and pulls in a pink and green floral print from the rest of the space.

Mirror

I always love including a mirror above the dresser for balance and light. This one has a soft beaded frame that feels feminine but still neutral. It adds great texture and visual interest.

Table Lamp

This lamp brings a botanical touch in a soft, sculptural way. It adds some organic movement to the dresser area and gives off a gentle, warm light…perfect for early mornings or bedtime routines.

Ottoman

This ruffled ottoman might be one of my favorite pieces. It’s so sweet and adds just the right amount of vintage softness. Perfect for propping up your feet while holding baby or reading stories in the glider.

Plaid Wool Rug

A neutral buffalo check pattern brings just the right amount of visual softness to the room. It’s flatwoven and low-pile, which makes it great for crawling and easy to clean. I recommend pairing it with a non-toxic rug pad for extra cushion and grip. Note that wool rugs will shed for the first 6-12 months.

Rug Pad
I always recommend adding a rug pad, especially with cotton rugs because they’re flat-woven and thin. It makes things safer, softer, dampens noise, and extends the life of your rug. Definitely worth it.

Glider Chair

You’ll spend a lot of time here, so it needs to be comfy. This one has a clean silhouette, cushy seat, and just enough rock to soothe. It blends seamlessly into the room without feeling bulky or clunky. Upholstered furniture like gliders are notoriously difficult to source non-toxic. Almost all are made out of foam and upholstered in synthetic fabrics that have been chemically stain-proofed. This glider is the most non-toxic options I’ve found - created with natural latex it’s free of polyurethane foam.

Throw Pillow

This pillow adds subtle texture and ties in the soft green palette without being too matchy. It also gives the glider a cozy, styled feel without getting in the way of comfort.

Goose Lovey

A soft and silly little friend to complete the theme! I always love adding a sweet plushie for that final, heartwarming touch. This one is baby-safe, organic and non-toxic, too.

Goose Watercolor Art

This little watercolor print of geese ties in the sage green color of the walls and carries the goose theme in a subtle, cottagey-way.

Linen Curtains

These pinch pleat TwoPages curtains add softness, elegance, and the perfect color in Off White J401-7. The linen fabric is a low-toxin choice, free from the chemicals of polyester and blackout fabrics.

Blackout Shades
Underneath the curtains, I always recommend layering with a simple blackout shade. It makes such a difference for naps and early bedtimes, especially in the summer months. Most black-out shades (and curtains) are made with PVC’s/vinyls which heat up with the warmth of the sun and can off-gas for years. I’ve source ones that skip the PVC and flame retardants, but still offer great light control.

Curtain Rods
A simple warm brass rod pulls in a bit of shine and ties in subtly with the hardware tones throughout the room.

Wall Paint Color
I used a desaturated sage green paint color from ECOS Paints as the foundation for this nursery, and it could not be more perfect. It’s a soft, muted green with just the right hint of warmth…calm, cozy, and totally timeless. It pairs beautifully with creamy whites, warm woods, and vintage-inspired accents, making it an ideal choice for a gender-neutral space. And the best part? ECOS Paints is one of my favorite low-tox paint brands. Their formulas are water-based, zero-VOC, and made without the harsh chemicals found in conventional paints, so you don’t have to stress about off-gassing or air quality in your baby’s room. Just a beautiful, clean backdrop you can feel good about.
