The Oliver

This cozy woodland-inspired baby boy’s nursery is grounded in rich forest tones and layered textures, giving it a warm, outdoorsy feel that still feels modern and refined. The palette centers around olive greens, natural wood accents, and soft neutrals, anchored by a striking black crib that adds depth and contrast. A dark wood dresser brings in a touch of rustic charm, while the tonal area rug keeps the space feeling soft and grounded underfoot. Throughout the design, subtle bear details add a sweet and playful motif without tipping into theme-y territory. I love how this room feels adventurous and calming at the same time, like a peaceful forest retreat, just for your little cub.

This is the kind of nursery that can grow with your child, adapt to new stages, and still feel fresh and timeless in a few years. And of course, every item here is sourced with safety and non-toxic materials in mind so it's not just beautiful, it's mindfully created too.

This is a teddy bear vintage farmhouse industrial rustic baby boy's nursery design mood board

Crib
A beautifully crafted crib in a striking black that brings contrast without feeling heavy. I love how the vintage-inspired profile keeps things feeling more traditional and timeless.

Mattress
A non-toxic, certified organic breathable crib mattress is one of the most important foundations for any nursery. This one checks all the boxes for safety and comfort. I used this brand in my own babies’ rooms!

Mattress Protector
I always recommend a waterproof protector that’s free from vinyl and noisy plastic. This one is soft, quiet, and made with safer materials.

Crib Sheets
Did you know Burt’s Bees makes baby linens? They are one of the original GOTS certified crib sheets brands - in fact I used them in my kids’ nurseries and they held up great! I recommend getting 3 for laundering.

Custom Name Wall Hanging
Looking for that perfect one-and-done piece of decor to hang over the crib? Look no further than this affordable, customizable name art.

Bear Crib Mobile
Definitely not a must have item - but honestly a lot of babies love having something to gaze at as they drift off. This one adds to the bear theme while still staying understated. Make sure to mount securely and out of reach of baby/toddler.

Organic Teddy Bear
Did you know that most kids’ stuffed animals and loveys are made with polyester (which is plastic) and contain chemicals like PFAS? Finding plastic-free toys is a challenge these days, but this stuffed teddy bear is made with 100% organic cotton and filled with pure wool and are hand made with love in Germany…perfect for years of snuggling!

Dresser
This dresser has apothecary-inspired drawers that are super functional for baby clothes and gear. It’s Greenguard Gold certified and made of solid, sustainable New Zealand Pine and TSCA compliant engineered wood. Don’t forget to anchor it to the wall to prevent tipping.

Bear Gallery Wall Art Set
This collection of vintaeg-inspired sage green and black art is super cute, educational (hi, alphabet), tonal, and just a little bit playful. It blends seamlessly into the design while still adding character.

Wooden Bear Toy
This little toy doubles as darling shelf decor. Made from natural wood with no plastic in sight, it’s a lovely addition to any neutral nursery.

Changing Pad
Contoured for safety and comfort, and works with almost any changing setup. I like this one because it’s wipeable , vinyl free and contains no harmful chemicals. Used it in my own baby’s nurseries!

Changing Pad Cover
Soft yet masculine, this cover ties in beautifully with the rest of the palette. I recommend 2-3 for laundering.

Lamp

I always love having at least two lamps in smaller rooms. They cast a more calming, warm light than overhead ceiling lights (which can make things feel flat and monotone with harsh shadows). This one is so handsome and full of character with it’s hammered deep bronze base.

Rocking Chair
This rocker is one of my budget-friendly go-tos. The olive boucle fabric adds just the right amount of softness, and the curved wood base brings in that natural tone again, so cozy and supportive for those late-night feeds. It’s Greenguard Gold and CertiPUR certified for lower off-gassing.

Woven Bear Basket
This little guy is as cute as it is practical. I would use it for stuffed animals, extra blankets, or even laundry. It’s a great way to sneak in extra storage without sacrificing style.

Accent Table
Having somewhere to set down your drink, story books and any feeding supplies makes bed time routines much easier. This one is solid wood, has modern lines and is in the same walnut tone as the dresser, tying everything together.

Floor Lamp
As mentioned, I think lamps are so important to creating a soothing atmosphere for your little one. This black rustic industrial floor lamp also functions to give the space extra personality.

Cotton Area Rug
This marled wool rug is soft underfoot and easy to clean, with a modern boho diamond pattern that adds interest without being loud. It really anchors the room. Wool rugs will shed for at least the first year, but are non-toxic, naturally stain repellent and plush underfoot.

Rug Pad
I always recommend adding a rug pad, especially with cotton rugs because they’re flat-woven and thin. It makes things safer, softer, dampens noise, and extends the life of your rug. Definitely worth it.

Curtains
These linen curtains are light and airy, adding softness to the space without introducing vinyls or PVCs through blackout lining. They move beautifully and frame the window in a subtle, elegant way.

Blackout Shades
Underneath the curtains, I always recommend layering with a simple blackout shade. It makes such a difference for naps and early bedtimes, especially in the summer months. Most black-out shades (and curtains) are made with PVC’s/vinyls which heat up with the warmth of the sun and can off-gas for years. This is a great non-toxic brand.

Curtain Rods
A simple, classic brass rod adds a little depth to the windows. Sometimes the hardware is what makes the whole thing feel finished.

Black Bear Throw Pillow
This black bear pillow is whimsical and carries on the bear motif but not in an overly baby way. I can see this pillow on baby’s toddler bed and even his teen bed in the years to come!

Wall & Trim Paint Color
I kept the trim a soft, creamy white to keep the room feeling clean and cohesive. It’s warm enough to avoid stark contrast but still gives that crisp finish. This is a Benjamin Moore paint color, I recommend specifying it in their Eco Spec base product for low VOCs (this line has a DECLARE label and is Red List free, which is nerd speak for very trustworthy).

Ceiling Light
Simple and a bit industrial, this flush mount adds a touch of design without taking up visual space. I always aim for lighting that’s both functional and quietly stylish.

Wooden Bear Stacking Toy
Another cute bear toy that doubles as decor! I love that it’s non-toxic and in beautiful alternating wood tones.
