The Sage

This modern boho minimal gender-neutral nursery design is one of my favorite blends of style and simplicity. It pulls together soft sage greens, pale natural woods, and cozy textures to create a space that feels calming and clean, but still full of warmth and personality. I kept the palette tonal and minimal, nothing too bold or busy, for a minimalist Scandinavian-inspired feel.

The animal theme here is modern and subtle. The illustrated world map and sculptural mobile add just enough playfulness without taking over the room, which is something I always aim for when designing with longevity in mind. I love how the mix of materials, like the boucle rocker, the chunky knit pouf, and the handwoven bear basket, bring in layers of texture and softness. It all works together because every piece feels thoughtful and grounded, like it belongs.

Crib
A beautifully crafted crib in a pale natural wood that brings warmth without feeling heavy. I love how the minimal profile keeps things airy, especially in smaller rooms.

Mattress
A non-toxic, certified organic breathable crib mattress is one of the most important foundations for any nursery. This one checks all the boxes for safety and comfort. I used this brand in my own babies’ rooms!

Mattress Protector
I always recommend a waterproof protector that’s free from vinyl and noisy plastic. This one is soft, quiet, and made with safer materials.

Crib Sheets
These sweet, neutral sheets feature a simple black and white goose pattern that adds just a touch of whimsy. Plus, they’re made with OEKO-TEX certified organic cotton, which I always feel better about for baby’s delicate skin.

Animal World Map Art
This piece is playful but elevated, a lovely way to introduce animals and geography in a modern, monochrome palette that won’t overpower the room.

Bear Wall Basket
Functional and adorable, this little wall basket adds texture and charm. It’s great for holding a few small essentials or soft toys within easy reach.

Minimal Animal Mobile
This mobile is the perfect balance of modern and whimsical and will bring movement and magic above the crib without being overstimulating. It’s simple, sweet, and perfectly on-theme. Make sure to install out of reach of baby.

Dresser
This dresser has such a clean-lined, Scandinavian feel. I love how the warm wood tones balance the cool sage walls, and the drawers are super functional for baby clothes and gear.

This one’s a cutie, it’s educational, tonal, and just a little bit playful. It blends seamlessly into the design while still adding character.

Wooden Bunny Push Toy
This little toy doubles as darling shelf decor. Made from natural wood with no plastic in sight, it’s a lovely addition to any neutral nursery.

Changing Pad
Contoured for safety and comfort, and works with almost any changing setup. I like this one because it’s wipeable but doesn’t look overly clinical and is free from harmful chemicals.

Changing Pad Cover
Soft and sweet, this cover ties in beautifully with the rest of the palette. It’s another moment of gentle modern animal themes that pulls everything together.

Rocking Chair
This rocker is one of my budget-friendly go-tos. The boucle fabric adds just the right amount of softness, and the curved wood base brings in that natural tone again, so cozy and supportive for those late-night feeds. It’s Greenguard Gold certified for lower off-gassing.

Woven Bear Basket
This little guy is as cute as it is practical. I would use it for stuffed animals, extra blankets, or even laundry. It’s a great way to sneak in extra storage without sacrificing style.

Green Ottoman
This knitted pouf adds texture and a touch of contrast in the softest, most desaturated sage. Perfect for propping up your feet during a feeding or adding a soft spot for playtime.

Tiger Throw Pillow
I love this pillow, it’s playful and a bit unexpected, but it still fits the color palette perfectly. Little details like this give the space personality.

Cotton Area Rug
This low-pile cotton rug is soft underfoot and easy to clean, with a modern boho pattern that adds interest without being loud. It really anchors the room.

Rug Pad
I always recommend adding a rug pad, especially with cotton rugs because they’re flat-woven and thin. It makes things safer, softer, and extends the life of your rug. Definitely worth it.

Curtains
These cotton IKEA curtains are light and airy, adding softness to the space without blocking natural light. They move beautifully and frame the window in a subtle, elegant way.

Blackout Shades
Underneath the curtains, I always recommend layering with a simple blackout shade. It makes such a difference for naps and early bedtimes, especially in the summer months. Most black-out shades (and curtains) are made with PVC’s/vinyls which heat up with the warmth of the sun and can off-gas for years. This is a great non-toxic brand.

Curtain Rods
A simple black rod adds a little contrast and ties in the graphic elements of the art and mobile. Sometimes the hardware is what makes the whole thing feel finished.

Paneled Wall Paint Color
This muted sage is one of my favorite wall colors for a gender-neutral space, it feels fresh and grounded at the same time, and pairs beautifully with natural wood tones.

Trim Paint Color
I kept the trim a soft, creamy white to keep the room feeling clean and cohesive. It’s warm enough to avoid stark contrast but still gives that crisp finish.

Ceiling Light
Simple and sculptural, this flush mount adds a touch of design without taking up visual space. I always aim for lighting that’s both functional and quietly stylish.

Olive Tree
Every room needs a bit of life, and this olive tree brings in that organic texture and interest. It softens the corner beautifully.
