The Simon

I had so much fun pulling this one together. This coastal nursery was inspired by that easy, breezy feeling of being near the water…whether it’s the beach, a lake, or just the daydream of one. I wanted it to feel light and calming but still full of sweet little details that make it feel special.

The soft blue and ivory color palette keeps everything feeling airy and fresh, and I love how the natural wood tones warm it all up. The striped rug adds that classic nautical touch and those wooden oars above the crib are such a charming statement moment that’s still really subtle. I also love the rope-wrapped lamp and the sailboat mobile, they’re the kinds of pieces that feel playful but still totally pulled together.

Everything in this design was chosen with both style and safety in mind. It’s all low-toxin and baby-friendly, but you’d never know by looking at it. This is the kind of nursery that feels like a little beach house right at home, and I think it’s such a sweet choice for a baby boy’s room, especially if you love a timeless, coastal look that doesn’t feel too theme-y.

Crib
This natural wood crib feels classic and understated, with clean lines that work beautifully in a coastal-inspired space. I love how the light finish brings in that sandy, beachy tone and pairs so well with the other warm neutrals in the room. Of course, it’s made with baby-safe finishes and is Greenguard Gold certified.

Mattress
A non-toxic, certified organic breathable crib mattress is one of the most important foundations for any nursery. This one checks all the boxes for safety and comfort. I used this brand in my own babies’ rooms!

Mattress Protector
I always recommend a waterproof protector that’s free from vinyl and noisy plastic. This one is soft, quiet, and made with safer materials. I suggest ordering 2 so you have a spare in case of messes :)

Crib Sheets

These sheets are GOTS-certified organic cotton and come in the perfect soft, sandy beige that plays so nicely with the rest of the room. They’re simple, cozy, and easy to mix and match.

Quilt

A quilt in soft white is perfect for laying on the floor for tummy time, draping over your nursery chair to keep the upholstery clean, and bundling up in the stroller.

Sailboat Mobile
This sweet little mobile adds just the right touch of nautical charm without being over-the-top. The soft colors and natural materials make it feel delicate and calming for baby, while still adding a bit of whimsy to the crib area.

Oar Wall Decor

One of my favorite pieces in this room, the wooden striped oars over the crib create such a charming focal point. They nod to the theme in a playful but subtle way and bring in that beautiful mix of blue and wood tones.

Ceiling Light

This woven pendant adds texture and interest overhead while keeping the palette warm and organic.

Dresser

This solid, minimal dresser doubles as a changing station and offers tons of storage. The clean lines keep the look modern, while the natural finish fits right in with the coastal palette. Plus, it’s Greenguard Gold certified for peace of mind.

Changing Pad
Contoured for safety and comfort, and works with almost any changing setup. I like this one because it’s wipeable , vinyl free and contains no harmful chemicals. Used it in my own baby’s nurseries!

Changing Pad Cover

This cotton cover adds a soft touch to the changing area and pulls in a hint of the soft blue from the rest of the space. It’s the little details like this that help the whole room feel cohesive.

Round Mirror

Whitewashed, coastal, rattan - all elements that pair perfectly with a coastal feel without looking theme-y.

Rope Table Lamp

This lamp is such a fun detail. The twisted rope base brings in natural texture and ties into the coastal theme in a way that’s stylish but not too literal. Add a soft bulb for a cozy glow at night.

Sailboat Printable Art

This soft-toned sailboat art brings in just the right amount of theme. It’s classic and calming, and works beautifully on a bare wall or on a bookshelf.

Custom Toy Basket

I love that you can customize this basket with your little one’s name! It’s perfect for books, blankets, or toys and makes cleanup feel just a little more charming.

Blue Striped Rug

This blue and white striped flat weave rug anchors the room with a classic pattern. It’s simple but makes a big impact, and the flat weave makes it easy to clean.

Rug Pad
I always recommend adding a rug pad, especially with cotton rugs because they’re flat-woven and thin. It makes things safer, softer, dampens noise, and extends the life of your rug. Definitely worth it.

Glider Chair

You’ll spend a lot of time here, so it needs to be comfy. This one has a clean silhouette, cushy seat, and just enough rock to soothe. It blends seamlessly into the room without feeling bulky or clunky. Upholstered furniture like gliders are notoriously difficult to source non-toxic. Almost all are made out of foam and upholstered in synthetic fabrics that have been chemically stain-proofed. This glider is the most non-toxic options I’ve found - created with natural latex it’s free of polyurethane foam.

Organic Seahorse Plush Toy

This toy brand is one of my favorites for sourcing synthetic-free lovey’s. Organic inside and out!

Woven Side Table

Lightweight and practical, this little table is the perfect spot to keep a water bottle, sound machine, or a few bedtime books. The warm tone echoes the crib and dresser beautifully.

Sail Boat Decor

Great for propping on a bookshelf to add a bit more nautical charm!

Curtains

These light-filtering linen curtains give the room a gentle, breezy feel. They frame the window without weighing things down and move beautifully when the windows are open.

Blackout Shades
Underneath the curtains, I always recommend layering with a simple blackout shade. It makes such a difference for naps and early bedtimes, especially in the summer months. Most black-out shades (and curtains) are made with PVC’s/vinyls which heat up with the warmth of the sun and can off-gas for years. This is a great non-toxic brand.

Curtain Rods
A simple warm brass rod pulls in a bit of shine and ties in subtly with the hardware tones throughout the room.

Wall & Trim Paint Color
I recommend a creamy white with warm undertones to keep the space light and inviting. Paired with soft blues and natural wood, it brings the whole coastal palette together. This is a Benjamin Moore paint color, I recommend specifying it in their Eco Spec base product for low VOCs (this line has a DECLARE label and is Red List free, which is nerd speak for very trustworthy).
